A very thoughtful and well written instruction manual for the professoriate and anyone in the teaching profession. Unfortunately, like most instruction manuals, this one will no doubt be thrown in a drawer and forgotten about. As evidence, I would cite the apparent dis-evolution of Barack Obama, whom you describe in his early years as a lawyer who presented his opponents’ arguments in the fairest, most accurate way possible before proceeding to attack them. Somewhere between there and here, he has become extraordinarily adept at straw-manning his political opponents - perhaps the most eloquent (and most cloyingly disingenuous) straw-manner I’ve ever seen. It appears he’s lost the instruction manual. You should mail him a signed copy of your book.
